Rooibos Chai for example is a caffeine free chai. The ingredients are Rooibos, Ginger, Cinnamon, Cardamom, Black + White pepper, Clove, Nutmeg and Coriander. To brew this tea, put 1 slightly heaping teaspoon of loose tea for each 7-9 oz/200-260 ml of water in the teapot. Pour freshly boiled water over tea. Steep 5-10 minutes and add milk and sugar to taste.
Almost all types of herbal tea require freshly boiled water and need to brew for approximately five minutes. Add one teaspoon of herbal tea per cup (250 ml) and pour boiled water over to brew. Roots such as ginger however, need to be boiled in water for 5-10 minutes to release their flavors.
